Description: Became popular a few years ago when Jared Fogle lost over 100 pounds by eating only subway sandwiches daily combined with alot of walking.
There are Pros and Cons reguarding this diet. Pros include no cooking, eating yummy food and losing weight fast. The cons however is that its not a balanced diet, the food will get boring after awhile and to top it off it can be very expensive to eat at Subway every day.

Subway for the obese Reviewer: Alex 04-06-2004 If you are morbidly obese, just about any method of weight loss can be
justified ... including subway ... if you feel this will help you succeed.
However, if you do not fit in this category, it would be better to go on
something like a cardiac patient diet. Or harvard's new improved food
pyramid (with fruits and vegis on the base level).
If you take a look at the ingredients of the meat that Subway uses, you
will notice a lot of preservatives and crap. I would recommend avoiding
continuous consumption of their meats. And no, a sub without meat won't do
... there isn't much nutrition in the condiments either. Its not just
about avoiding fat, it about getting the right stuff too. |
Almost any diet will work Reviewer: Chuck 04-06-2004 depending on the individual and circumstances, almost
any diet will "work" once. Indeed those who lost weight
without going on ANY diet had the best results. Please

burning more calroies than you eat Reviewer: Pat 04-06-2004 You WILL burn more calories than you eat, if you are eating less calories
than you burn. If a person eats 3 subways a day and that's it, they'll
probably lose weight. |
Subway Disclaimer Reviewer: Chris 04-06-2004 The disclaimer in the ad is that the Subway sandwiches are just part of a
plan that includes a low fat diet and exercise. I think we all agree that
that does work. |
Just my opinion Reviewer: Ruben T. 04-06-2004 I just looked at the Subway website and I stand corrected -- it says a
six inch turkey sub has *17* grams of protein. That is
ridiculously low for any human being. |
Exercise is the key Reviewer: Patricia 04-05-2004 the thing Subway is touting about those subs is
that they are low FAT which is the biggest problem
in most people's diets. You won't burn more than you
eat unless you exercise. |
My diet Reviewer: Tommy 04-03-2004 It would take maybe 1.5 to 2 years,
which is a reasonable timeframe regardless of the type diet. During my
weight loss (only 120 pounds, granted), subway sandwiches were very, very
common. In fact, when I was on the road, 95% of my meals were subways. If
there weren't any around, I'd get a grilled chicken at a MacDonalds or
Burger King.

Subway High Carb Diet Reviewer: Determined 04-02-2004 I think there's no doubt that all that bread is going to deliver high carbs.
Why the diet works is you consume less calories than you burn. It's been
successful for some people, because it takes the thinking out of eating.
You can make yourself a really yummy and even healthier sandwich at home,
and it won't cost near as much. And it will work if you are diligent about
eating under a certain number of calories every day. |
READ the fine print Reviewer: Gym Bob 04-01-2004 Read "the fine print" They say "without cheese or sauce" You got a dry
piece of bleached white bun with a few processes/sodium nitrite soaked
pieces of meat. Dry |
I know Jarred Reviewer: PJ 04-01-2004 The person who lost 245lbs on the Subway diet is a student at the
university I attend...I have met him a couple of times. In addition to
the Subway sandwiches he also exercised. It is pretty amazing...and true! |
Subs are healthier than burgers Reviewer: Arklier 03-26-2004 I do eat at sub shops quite a bit. My current one is Georgio's, which
is a small local chain, since it is the closest one to my work. While
I don't eat there 3 times a day, it's better to go get a turkey or (my
favorite) egg salad (non-fat mayo) than hit the burger joints for
lunch. When I'm out and I want something, I'll usually look for a
Subway or Quizno's instead of going to McDonald's. |
What you should order/eat Reviewer: WR 03-17-2004 You should order your Double Whopper with Cheese
with NO mayo and no pickles.
Or a Wendy's Big Bacon Classic, same way.
BTW, Wendy's has much better meat, but oddly enough you really
don't notice how poor the BK meat is when it's in the Whopper.
It is very noticeable though if you are ketogenic dieting and
not eating the bread. |
It works well when you are 360 pounds Reviewer: Roxan 03-16-2004 It works well when you are 360 pound person, but someone wanting to lose a
few pounds, would find this isn't low enough in calories if eaten every day.
Jared lost weight because he still ate lower in calories then he once did.
No mystery there. |
to lose weight and feel better Reviewer: TC 03-12-2004 If you look at 3 to four ounces of meat (protein) on a whole-wheat
bun, skip the chips and have a diet (low-sugar) drink, you are looking
at pretty much the exact protein to carb ratio as is proposed by by
many low-carb diets.
If you are overweight, you will lose weight and feel better.
Exercise wont hurt either.

What is so amazing? Reviewer: Jake 03-06-2004 What is so amazing about it? Any time you cut your calories that low and
deprive your body of the vital nutrients and minerals you need to function
optimally you're going to lose weight. For cripes sake -- this guy was only
eating 12 grams of protein a day!
Nothing amazing about it if you ask me. Just plain stupid.... |
