I spent three and a half months at the Rice House and lost over a hundred pounds.

    Great Experience

This fantastic diet plan is a unique experience that anyone overweight should go thru. I recommend it. Its more than just losing your extra weight. Its 'eating right' and taking time for yourself.

I was on Rice Diet years ago

I was on the rice diet many years ago (22 to be exact). I wanted to lose
the 10 to 15 extra pounds I had gained with my second child. It was one
of the many "fasting" diets in a little Dell pocketbook (the kind you find
at the checkout lanes in grocery stores). I don't know if they still make
that particular book anymore. All I can remember is that I loved rice and
thought what a perfect diet. I can fill up on something I love (you could
eat all the rice you wanted). However, after the third or fourth day, the
thrill was completely gone. I don't remember if you could eat anything
else on this diet but I don't think you could. There was a warning that
with all "fasting" diets, that the diet should only be followed for a
certain number of days.
I don't know if this is the same diet or if a newer form has mutated from
it. But I do know that in orginal form, it was impossible to stick with.

I think you are supposed to eat 1 fruit for breakfast, 2 fruits for lunch with
a cup of rice, and then 2 fruits for dinner with a cup of rice. You can
substitute puffed rice for regular, but no milk or anything.
Your'e supposed to do that for as long as humanly possible, then start adding
other things like a cup of tomato soup after a few weeks. I've heard of people
who've lost up to 12 pounds in a week doing this.

    Not a real diet!

The rice diet I'm familiar with was a quack diet that didn't
have sufficient variety to be nutritious. I'd stay away from
that sort of thing. Rice is fine to have on your diet,
but it shouldn't be your only food.

Be careful before starting a diet like this.

Be careful. Be very, very careful. You need balence in your diet. Fruits,
veggies, protien(not nescessarily meat). Round out your diet. Your body
will thank you for it.

I plan starting this diet soon

the rice diet claims that something
like 68% of it's participants at the center maintain their weight loss after a
year out, which is pretty significant. Based on that fact alone is making me want to sign up.

6 years ago i tried this diet
Reviewer: Jim       03-14-2004
I
"dropped" 50 lbs in about 10 weeks. I've since gone on to lose another 70
lbs. The rice diet was a good starting point for me since I had so much to
lose.Having said all of that, I don't recommend the diet. What has worked
for me (just me and my $0.02) has been learning about, proper nutrition,
emotional eating and also commiting to an exercise program. Did the Rice
Diet give me that? No! The Rice Diet was a quick fix for me (that
worked).

The type of rice for this diet makes a big difference
Reviewer: Mona       03-01-2004
It makes a big difference what sort of rice.... most long grain and
"quick" white rices have glycemic indexes between 80 and 100, whereas
basmati rice is only 58 - that means it doesn't raise blood glucose as
much or as quickly for the same amount of carb.

If you want to 'snack' don't try this diet
Reviewer: Sheila       02-26-2004
With the Rice Diet, you can ONLY have SEVEN portions of food a day. You
can only eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. No snacks.
