Description: This diet was created by Nathan Pritikin, who is the founder of the Pritikin Longevity Center in California, the Pritikin Diet was first became published as a healthy diet and fitness program in 1979. The Pritikin Diet is a low-fat, high-carb diet plan.



The main idea is based around the importance of calories for weight loss, but instead of calculating calories per food item, dieters are taught to plan the general calorie-content of each meal.

Unless you are headed down the heart disease path, then i don't recommend this diet to you. 10% fat is not very much for a normal healthy diet.

I have recently purchased a couple of books relating to the Pritikin
diet. Many of the testimonies in the book are quite remarkable.

This diet seemed to hit a high in the 90's. A group of people I worked with were on this diet and lost some pounds. I don't hear of anymore people on this diet much these days.

I tried this diet 4 years ago and man was it painful to be on. 10% fat which is allowed on this diet compared to the WW which is 30% sounds crazy. Well it is. Its a 2/3 less fat. I didn't last more than 2 weeks on it.

I think if you follow this diet except maybe every 2 or 3 days just have a decent meal then you may have luck with it. The most important factor when dieting is to drink plenty of water and exercise. With any diet you can't go wrong with those 2 items reguardless of the plan.

This diet wants your fat levels to be extremely low...like 10%. I don't think that is a good idea, its very unhealthy.

It wasn't easy for me. I don't think it would be easy for anyone. If you have low blood pressure then please don't try this diet.
