Description: This diet consists of eating certain diet foods which possess "negative calorie" effects and help you lose your weight very rapidly. Although this diet sounds very simple to follow it also sounds like its just a fad diet. It is also not recommended by many because the truth is there are no "negative calorie" foods.

This was a fad diet a fews years back Reviewer: Lisette 07-28-2004 i know of a couple of people that were on this diet. It didn't do them any good. One of them was my cousin. She became very ill a few weeks after it. This seems to be another way for someone to make money selling books and profiting off of other people's misfortunes. |
I decided to research this diet Reviewer: RICH 07-11-2004 I decided to get to the bottom of this. There's a lot of hype and
bullshit out there, but there IS one page that ISN'T selling the
program, but just describing what a catabolic diet is and how to do it.
So if anyone believes in this, like I don't, feel free to click over
here and get what is allegedly the "One True Catabolic Diet." I
haven't looked at the site more than to say that it's not selling
anything, it's just describing exactly which foods are 'catabolic' and
giving you sample menus and whatnot.
If you want to try this, be my guest. I may analyze this diet sometime
when I'm bored, but frankly I'm sticking to my "fad" Atkins diet. LOL
The site is http://www.rarebooks.net/beck/cataboli.htm. Go for it.

No way I would start a diet like this Reviewer: Patty 06-28-2004 I have asked 2 doctors what they think about a Negative Calorie Diet and both of their answers were similiar. It is a very unhealthy diet either way you look at it. There is no way i would recommend this. Especially if you are an active person that burns alot of calories. |
Is it possible? Reviewer: Beatrice 03-31-2004 There is much talk these days regarding negative calorie foods. One
wonders, how is it possible? Actually no food can be without any
calorie. Negative calorie foods are those foods that require more
calories to digest than their actual calorie content. Some of these
foods are cabbage, broccoli, celery, etc. Others are from grains
category. If you look at the list of negative calorie foods given in
http://www.fatfreekitchen.com/negative-calorie-foods.com
you will see that they are vegetables and fruits. |
about the diet Reviewer: Liz 03-31-2004 I've heard about "negative calorie" foods for a few years. At first the idea came out as this exciting thing but the only reasong the foods are "negative calorie" is because you burn more calories eating them than
you get out of them. They are just very low calorie foods. The best thing about them is they make great snacks if you're in a
munchy mood, or a filler or to throw into a salad. No magic there. |
Foods that are negative calories Reviewer: Pete 03-31-2004 from what i can gather it has
something to do with the calorific value of the foods that you consume and
how many calories your body burns up digesting the foods. it gives an
example of 5 calories worth of celery takes 95 calories to burn up therefore
giving a negative calorie value of 90 calories. the only other foods i have
seen on the web page was kiwi, melon and strwberries. It claims there are
over one hundred foods but you have to buy the book to get the list. |
This diet can't possibly be true Reviewer: Kate 03-31-2004 How can anything be negative calories? I have been on many low calorie diet, but never a 'negative' calorie diet. it sounds like a hoax. |
Not much success Reviewer: Amaya 03-31-2004 I tried this diet last month and didn't have much success. On top of that it wasn't a very pleasing diet to be on either. I need a more healthier and nutritous diet to accomplish my goals. |
It doesn't work Reviewer: Stewart 03-26-2004 I tried it didn't help me lose weight at all. |
Not a REAL diet Reviewer: Claudia 03-24-2004 I did research on the negative calorie diet
and I can tell you that it just is total BS. Many years ago (in the 50's) a
doctor hypothesized that there must be fiber rich foods that actually burn
more calls than the foods contain. This was before all the sophisticated
research on bariatrics (Study of weight loss) was done. The foods on his
list were the typical low fat, low cal types of foods I eat every day and so
do most other low fatters. After 3 1/2 years of dieting I haven't died from
negative calorie loss as I would have if this phenomenon actually occurred.
Even celery doesn't work this way. High fiber foods have lower cals and do
burn a lot of cals to digest, but they are not negative calorie foods. One
sure thing I have learned during almost of 4 years of nutritional studies is
that if it sounds to good to be true, it is.
Find a diet you can live with and then do so. Allow yourself a cheat every
now and then, work on your attitude and keep it as positive and grateful as
you can and work on becoming the person you want to be inside when the
outside is thin. You have a chance of success with this. |
negative or low calories? Reviewer: Miguel 03-22-2004 i have been reading on the net about the negative diet, apparently your body
burns up more calories digesting certain foods than the actual calorific
value of the foods. there are supposed to be over one hundred of these such
foods. from the website i can only see celery, strawberries, melon and kiwi
illustrated. |
