Background

In May 1991, PBH was formed to serve as co-sponsor, along with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), of the 5 A Day for Better Health program with the primary purpose of overseeing industry participation. What began with the support of 60 produce industry companies and commodity boards, has today grown to serve over 700 members representing growers, shippers, packers, merchandisers, commodity boards, trade associations, food industry organizations, health insurers, health professionals, and retailers reaching consumers in 30,000 supermarkets nationwide. This and its over 90-member Board of Directors speaks to the industry’s confidence in PBH’s efforts to increase fruit and vegetable consumption.



In January 2001, the 5 A Day program expanded beyond PBH and NCI to include other key organizations committed to leveraging the reach of 5 A Day under the National 5 A Day Partnership. As a founding member of the Partnership, PBH brings its unique ability to unite the fruit and vegetable and related industries under the umbrella of 5 A Day and its vision of 5 A Day for every American.

This is so similiar to the diet i have been on all my life. Now I am doing it right. I have been on this diet for almost a year now and I have already lost 35 pounds. I love the food choices and the extra energy I get from being healthier. I now go to sleep later and wake up an hour earlier every morning compared to last year at this time.

    Seems like an easy diet but its not

This is not an easy diet to follow. Sometimes you just want to eat something that you can't. Also while on this diet I didn't lose as much weight as I would have liked to.

A year ago I lost 40 pounds with 5 A Day. Then I moved on because this isn't a diet I could stay with forever.

i followed this diet but cheated. Sorry, it was difficult not to. I did lose some weight but then gained it all back. I didn't last on it very long but if i did i am sure i would have lost more weight.

    I didn't like the food

I thought i was gonna love this diet til the first day. The meal plan for day one was soup and fruit. That was ok, but the drinks had to be unsweetened tea (yuck), cranberry juice (yuck), or water. I ended up drinking OJ. This process continued to the next day and the day after eventually i came to realize that i wasn't even folowing the plan as i should. I don't recommend this plan unless you don't mind eating a pre selected meal everyday that you probably won't like.

The diet didn't work for me. I followed it correctly. But the weekend beer probably wasn't cool. I may try it again some time but next time i will try not to drink on weekends.

It worked I lost some weight. I didn't care too much for the diet. I think I lost about 10 pounds then decided to stop the diet because i missed certain foods i couldn't eat.

    Perfect Diet

By day three i was allowed to eat all the soup, fruit, and veggies i wanted to. This is a perfect diet. The foods you are allowed to eat are all the foods i would be eating anyways. I have lost some pounds and i have kept it off for over a month now. I will look alot slimmer this summer in a bikini. I can't wait til beach season.

If you want an alternative to all the meat diets like Atkins then this is for you. I am not a meat eater so this is my kind of diet. I exercise regularly and now i eat better thanks to this simple diet. I recommend it. Its healthy and its fun when you first start.

I decided to try this diet for a week and lost 10 pounds. That is around what you should lose for a week of this diet. So even though i didn't like the actual diet I will give it a good rating based on the fact that it did help me lose weight. Which was my main reason for starting this diet.
